Find something to be thankful for today

Did you find your favorite cereal on the back of the shelf? Did you get a great parking spot? Is it National Donut Day? Today, give yourself a reason to celebrate.

It doesn’t have to be your birthday or anniversary to take time to applaud an accomplishment.

Moments of celebration make us pause and be mindful, and that boosts our well-being. According to social psychology, when we stop to savor the good stuff, we buffer ourselves against the bad.

Even mini-celebrations – like a few high fives or going out some place special for lunch – can bump up our positive emotions, making it easier to manage our stress.

Just remember, the first step in celebrating is to notice the moment. Then, do something out of your routine to celebrate it.
